I believe nutrition should play a more important role in the maintenance of human health. To me, Honey Bees provide an inspiring example from nature that illustrates the impact of nutrition:

When a queen honey bee lays eggs, each female egg is identical. Dependent on the days the larva is fed royal jelly, the larva develops into a worker bee or a queen bee. This is an example that indicates the importance of nutrition in early life with lifelong consequences for health.

Health is often described as 'the absence of disease' because there are no real measures to scientifically assess health. As our Health Care System (or should we say Disease Care System?) is mainly focussing on how to cure people rather than how to prevent people from getting ill. To my view, we should dare to look for new ways to define our expectations of health care and the potential impact that each individual can have on your own health by adapting your lifestyle and nutritional habits: Dare2Bee!

The logo is based on the hexagonal shape observed in the bee hive. The hexagonal shape provides the most efficient shape of the honeycomb, using the least building blocks but yet is optimally stable. When building scientific stories, scientists tend to use too many details, resulting in more confusion than new insights. By using "Less is More", I aim to bring a clear scientifically substantiated story that is still compelling for that specific audience.

About me

About me

I started my scientific education in Experimental Zoology and Biotechnology at the Higher Laboratory Education, after which I worked as a research technician at Utrecht University. Hereafter I completed my PhD at Wageningen University with a thesis entitled "A multidisciplinary study of Allergy - Mouse models, immune modulation and lifestyle". Subsequently, I worked for a total of 11 years as a (senior) scientist and cluster leader within two multinational Nutrition companies. My expertise therefore developed from scientific expert, to team leader and project leader, with extensive experience in public-private collaborations and scouting new business opportunities.

What can D2B do for you?

What can D2B do for you?

My enthusiasm is easily evoked when an assignment requires ‘out of the box’ thinking and connecting different disciplines.

I can, for example, help you:

  • build a scientific concept in a new business context;
  • create scientific presentations;
  • assist in obtaining funding;
  • develop a scientific story that is compelling to a (non-)scientific audience;
  • with advise on the use of graphics to strengthen your message;
  • connect to graphical designers and photographers for professional communication tools;
  • with the verification of the scientific soundness of the work with other scientific experts in the field.
